SADO AND MAACS ATTORNEYS BEFORE THE MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT
In anticipation of October sessions on the 9th 10th, Jacqueline McCann, Angel Meneses, Matthew Monahan, and Michael Faraone from SADO's and Michigan Appellate Conflict Service MAACS's roster will present arguments at Hall of Justice in Lansing MI regarding issues like double jeopardy, consecutive sentencing, and jurisdiction.
TACKLING ATTORNEY SHORTAGES IN RURAL MICHIGAN
The absence of legal representation in rural Michigan has posed significant challenges to access justice for indigent clients. A comprehensive strategy is underway involving the enhancement of the Michigan Special Assignment Team Team augmented by innovative technology solutions as part of a triage project.
MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT SENTENCING DECISIONS - 2023-2024
The year saw relatively fewer developments on sentencing matters. The Michigan Supreme Court considered three cases where relief seemed promising but ultimately declined to grant leave, mntning two previously published decisions that had been subject to criticism for their perceived implausibility or questionable legal foundation.
