California Lawyers Association's Initiative on Access to Justice
The California Lawyers Association CLA, as the professional organization for all lawyers in the state, is dedicated to advocating and facilitating equal access to justice for every Californian through legislative and policy support, resource creation, pro bono opportunities, and convening platforms.
Resources and Pro Bono Opportunities: Free Legal Answers Platform
We proudly partner with California Lawyers Association, Legal Access Alameda Alameda County Bar, California Lawyers Foundation, and the American Bar Association to launch the Free Legal Answers platform. This virtual service offers free legal advice to low-income Californians dealing with issues stemming from COVID-19.

Convenings and Collaborations
CLA organizes semiannual meetings with the California Legal d Association, facilitating dialogue among traditional legal services providers, bar associations, policymakers, legislative staff, and more. We also collaborate with the Disaster Legal Assistance Collaborative and serve on the California Access to Justice Commission.
Awards Recognition
We honor attorneys who have dedicated themselves to providing free legal services through the Loren Miller Legal Services Award. This award is presented annually in partnership with the California Access to Justice Commission and the Legal d Association of California.
Legal Services for Free
CLA offers complimentary membership for attorneys employed by IOLTA-funded programs or non-profit organizations that provide services without charging fees. To apply, interested parties can visit our website.
Pro Bono Recognition
We acknowledge those who contribute their time and expertise to assist low-income clients with the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services.
